Illumi Medical Selected for 2024 New Aichi Creative Research and Development Subsidy
*In addition to the ability to irradiate light from inside blood vessels to extravascular tissues, we have begun developing light sensing technology from inside blood vessels.

At Toshihiko, we are working to create a new medical platform by developing the world’s first technology to irradiate internal tissues with light by emitting light from inside blood vessels.
Our company is a recipient of the “New Aichi Creative Research and Development Subsidy”* ** which was adopted in 2023.
As a result, we have applied for 10 patents, obtained 2 patents for basic technology, and succeeded in building alliances with numerous companies and academia.
Furthermore, in April 2024, we completed equity raising of 170 million yen through seed round funding, and succeeded in raising over 200 million yen in approximately one year after our founding*

Outline of the selection of the New Aichi Creative Research and Development Grant in 2024
Our theme for the 2024 New Aichi Creative Research and Development Grant, which has been adopted this time, is:
“Research and development of an intravascular light irradiation device equipped with a diagnostic function, aiming at the integration of treatment and diagnosis (theranostics).”
Now that the foundation for an intravascular light irradiation system is in place, our company will proceed with device development activities that will make this intravascular light irradiation technology applicable not only to “treatment” but also to “diagnosis.”
With this selection, our endovascular treatment technology ET-BLIT(R)* ** We will continue to develop systems and devices that will further deepen our knowledge, expand application areas, and improve treatment accuracy.
Our ET-BLIT(R) technology can selectively irradiate light anywhere inside the body. We hope that it will become a platform that can not only be used to expand the potential of existing phototherapeutic drugs, but also revolutionize drug discovery methods that use light as a starting point.
We believe that by achieving this, we will be able to grow into a global medical manufacturer originating from Japan.
We will continue to conduct R&D and business development activities with an eye on the global market, and strive to contribute to extending the healthy life expectancy of people around the world.

A subsidy that has been operated by Aichi Prefecture since fiscal 2012, targeting next-generation growth fields, etc. (next-generation automobiles, aerospace, environment/new energy, health and longevity, information and communications, robotics fields, etc.).
