Did you know that it was Yukichi Fukuzawa who introduced curry to Japan in writing? After returning from a mission to the United States, Fukuzawa Sensei published a book called “Enlarged Edition of Chinese-English Language” in 1860, which was a Japanese translation of the “Chinese-English Dictionary” that he had purchased locally. was introduced as ‘Koruri’. Professor Fukuzawa is also known for being a pioneer of the National Trust movement and investing his own money to purchase Kyoto Peak in order to preserve the beautiful scenery of his hometown, Nakatsu City.
