Application for permission to change the upper limit of passenger fares for general bus services in the Osaka and Hyogo areas
Hankyu Bus Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Toyonaka City, Osaka Prefecture; President: Hiroshi Inami) announced today, March 31 (Friday), that the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has given permission to change the upper limit of passenger fares for general bus services in the Osaka and Hyogo areas. I applied.
The reason for the application and the outline of the application are as follows.
1. Reason for application
Since the fare revision was implemented on January 9, 1997 (Heisei 9), fares for our general route buses that operate in the Osaka area and Hyogo area have been changed for about 26 years, excluding the fare revision accompanying the consumption tax rate hike. We have continued our business until now.
During this period, in addition to service improvement measures such as the introduction of an easy-to-use commuter pass system, the introduction of IC card tickets and bus location systems, and the introduction of non-step buses, efficiency measures such as operation outsourcing, route review, and timetable optimization were
implemented. We have been striving to provide safe and secure transportation services.
However, the number of users continues to decline due to the declining population due to the declining birthrate and aging population. We are in a very difficult financial situation.
In addition, there is an increase in the costs required to improve treatment to deal with the worsening shortage of drivers, soaring fuel costs, upgrades to barrier-free vehicles, the introduction of environmentally friendly vehicles such as EV buses, and improvements in safety and convenience. Costs, such as continuous investment in measures, are increasing more than before, putting pressure on business management.
In a situation where transportation revenues have not recovered to pre-coronavirus disasters, even in such a business environment, it is necessary to continue to operate safely and stably as public transportation. I have applied for a change in the upper limit of the fare.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in order to provide a safe and comfortable transportation service that allows customers to use the bus every day with peace of mind, and to promote the sound management of the shared bus business.

Four. Management Improvements to Date and Future Efforts
We have reorganized and abolished unprofitable routes to improve the efficiency of business operations, and have also worked to reduce fuel costs by consolidating sales offices, extending vehicle renewal periods, and promoting eco-driving. rice field.
In addition, due to the impact of the corona disaster, we will reduce personnel expenses and merge the limousine bus specialty subsidiary and the charter bus specialty subsidiary in July last year in order to improve efficiency and strengthen the competitiveness of the entire Hankyu Bus Group. At the same time, we transferred our highway bus division to the merged company to unify management resources. In the future, we will not only implement business plans according to the lifestyle of Wiz Corona, but also promote operational efficiency and work to improve management.
Five. Efforts to improve safety
Based on the safety declaration that “safety comes first”, we strive to further improve safety on a daily basis.
Specifically, we are working to enhance hardware, such as replacing drive recorders with newer models for safer vehicles, introducing cameras and mirrors that reduce blind spots, and introducing a system for dealing with abnormalities in the driver (EDSS). . We are working to prevent accidents due to health problems by adding brain checkups and SAS tests to the health checkup items and rigorous health management. Furthermore, we are working to improve the work level and motivation, such as holding internal contests regarding driver skills and customer service work.
6. Service improvement and environmental efforts
Our company’s commuter passes not only set discount commuter passes such as “Grand Pass 65/70” for seniors and “School Pass” for commuting semester, but also commuter passes are It is a price type that can be used in any section. In addition, we have introduced an “Environmental Odekake Discount,” which offers 100 yen for adults and free for children for families accompanying regular users who commute on weekends and holidays.
As for bus vehicles, in addition to the introduction of non-step buses, we are the first in the industry to introduce eco-friendly EV buses, and we will continue to expand and promote “buses that are friendly to people and the city.”
In addition, we are working on mobility management, such as “bus riding classes” in collaboration with local governments, so that children along the route can feel that buses are a “familiar vehicle”, and we will continue to promote both hardware and software
initiatives.
