How mega-hit works worth 1 trillion yen are created
The economic scale of “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” is said to be approximately 1 trillion yen. What can we do to create such mega-hit content? The hint is said to lie in the saying, “The broader the base, the higher the price.” This means that the more manga artists there are and the environment in which all kinds of works are created develops, the more interesting works will be created and the industry will develop. Tetsuya Chiba, who brought the masterpiece “Ashita no Joe” to the world and is currently the president of the Japan Manga Artists Association, used these words on many occasions. So how can we create all kinds of works? In this book, we will focus on Japanese weekly manga magazines and explain their history.
