The presumed mechanism of action is that hydrogen molecules (H2) in electrolyzed hydrogen water react with hydroxyl radicals and peroxynitrite to eliminate the radicals. As a result, intracellular antioxidant capacity increases, and conversely, reactive oxygen species and reactive nitrogen species decrease, resulting in a decrease in oxidative stress. The inflammatory cytokines that interact with it are also reduced, suppressing inflammation. Ultimately, it is said to reduce the risk of arthritis, malignant tumors, diabetes, and inflammatory bowel disease.
In conclusion, this review paper summarizes the various benefits of electrolyzed hydrogen water, based on the results of many vigorous animal experiments and a small number of human clinical studies.
