◆ Five new players joined East and nine new players joined West. We aim to further strengthen our team’s strength and become a consistent winner.
◆ Aim to win the Japan Intercity Championship, the pinnacle of adult baseball. Mitsubishi Heavy Industries is pleased to announce the following new players for the 2024 season of the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries East Baseball Club (hereinafter referred to as East) and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries West Baseball Club (hereinafter referred to as West). In the 2024 season, the East will have five players, including pitchers Kawawada (Sendai University), Ikeda (Rikkyo University), and Nonaka (University of Commerce), catcher Tomoda (Nihon University), and infielder Nakamae (Chuo University), and the West. Four new players will be added to the team, including pitchers Nakazawa (Ryukoku University) and Fujii (Tenri University), catcher Ishii (Kansai University), and infielder Yoshida (Tenri University). In addition, former Hanshin Tigers infielder Hojo, former Orix Buffaloes pitcher Tsujigaki, and East pitcher Hikiki, infielder Futahashi, and outfielder Yamashita (former Yomiuri Giants) will also be transferred to the West.
With the addition of these 14 new players, both the East and West teams will work to further strengthen their team strength and achieve regular wins, with the aim of winning the Intercity Japan
Championship, the pinnacle of adult baseball.
Hirotaka Okawa, general manager (GM) of both East and West teams, commented as follows. “A large number of promising players
representing the Tohoku, Kanto, and Kansai university baseball leagues have joined the East and West teams this season in order to aim for the top of adult baseball, which is the highest level of amateur baseball, which has been improving in recent years. We have high expectations for the performance of the five transfer players who joined the West.Each player will work hard and grow at a high level together with the current players of the East and West, and we hope that both teams will achieve their goals in the city. I hope they will make a big contribution to winning the Japan Championship.”
From 2021, our group will expand its support system for sports activities to include all companies and group members globally, including the East and West baseball clubs, the Urawa Red Diamonds of the J League soccer team, the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Urawa Reds Ladies of the women’s soccer WE League, We support the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Sagamihara Dynaboars of Japan Rugby League One, the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Marathon Club, and para-athletes (powerlifting, table tennis). Going forward, we will continue to vigorously develop the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Sports Challenge, which aims to improve CSR/community and social contribution, employee engagement, and corporate brand through sports, and believe in the power of sports to carve out a future. .
