With the audio guide function, you can notice the existence of branches before you deviate from your planned route.
This audio guide reads out aloud from your smartphone and provides the following guidance.
Branch announcement: Announcing “The branch is coming soon. Please be careful.” before the branch, to prevent you from taking the wrong route.
Place name announcement: When you approach the trailhead or a registered point, you will be informed, “We’re almost at the trailhead.” “We’re almost at 〇〇 (point name).”
Summit announcement: When approaching the summit, we will inform you that you will soon reach the summit of Mt.
Spot Announcement: When the user approaches a specific point set in advance, a notification will be sent saying “Spot 〇〇 is coming soon.”
4. Spot announcement spot is a feature that allows you to register your own landmarks on the map.
If you combine it with this new feature “Voice Guide”, you won’t have to check your smartphone again and again, and it will have the following effects, for example:
If you register in advance places and branches that are likely to be mistaken, the app will provide voice guidance when you approach the place, preventing you from getting lost.
By registering a reference location for trail running, etc., you can know if you are falling behind your target pace just by checking the time.
If you register the place you want to take a break in advance, you can take a planned break according to the timing of the sound.
Register in advance the plants and photo spots you see every year so you don’t miss them.
For example, by registering in advance the location where you will decide to give up on climbing and turn back, such as “If the arrival time at XX Pass is after 1:00 p.m., then descend the mountain,” you can make the decision to return based on the time you pass at that point. I can.

We will notify you before branching.
Many accidents occur while descending a mountain.
If you don’t realize that you’ve deviated from your planned route, you run the risk of being reluctant to climb back up and get back on track, either because the sun is setting or because you’re tired. In such situations, there have been cases where people were unable to make the right decisions and took actions that made the situation even worse.
By using this audio guide, you can more reliably prevent getting lost and enjoy mountain climbing safely.
The audio guide function becomes available when you subscribe to Yamareco’s paid plan “Premium Plan”.
This feature can be used with the iOS version of the app “Yamareco” released today, version 6.83 or later. The Android version of the app will be released in a future update.
In the future, we plan to use this technology to implement features such as audio warnings at dangerous points and explanations of points of interest along the route.
YamaReco will continue to utilize technology to develop apps that continue to provide valuable experiences for all users.
Current issues and future improvement plans:
-About branching information-
YamaReco’s audio guide guides you to points where three or more routes intersect, using the data of mountain trails (routes) registered in YamaReco’s planning function “Raku Route” as “branches”. This branching determination utilizes the vast number of climber
trajectories stored in Yamareco. This is the first of its kind in Japan to have a function that detects branching points on mountain trails and makes announcements before they occur.

Therefore, points for which three or more routes are not registered are not considered to be branch points and guidance cannot be provided.
In the future, we will expand route information and include
intentionally excluded branches in our decision-making process, making improvements that will allow us to provide guidance at more junctions.

-About the reading accuracy of place names-
Mountain summit announcements and place name announcements use a function that reads out characters using kanji place names.
Therefore, announcements may be made that differ from the actual reading of place names.
In the future, we plan to develop our own data on the pronunciation of place names to improve the accuracy of our reading.
