The Westin Garden was created in 2013 by landscape artist Kazuyuki Ishihara, who has won numerous gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show in the UK, and was created as a space where you can deeply feel the natural ecosystem even though you are in the city. Now, Mr. Ishihara’s “Hydrangea Garden” will be opened at the Westin Garden.
With the establishment of this new “Hydrangea Garden,” we received a gift from Hasedera Temple in Kamakura, a famous place for hydrangeas, to give us one hydrangea, “Kamakura,” which was named for the first time at the temple. The “Hydrangea Garden” is home to 16 types of hydrangeas, including this precious flower, “Kamakura”, making the Westin Garden a space where you can even more appreciate the delicate changes of the seasons and their natural beauty.
In addition, to commemorate the opening of the “Hydrangea Garden”, the lobby lounge “The Lounge” and the executive bar “The Bar” on the first floor overlooking the Westin Garden will be designed with the image of hydrangeas and “Kamakura” hydrangeas, which bloom beautifully during the rainy season. For a limited time, we will offer cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks.
The Westin Tokyo will continue to embody Westin’s well-being through the Westin Garden and provide a healing experience for visitors.

Comment from Charles Jacques, General Manager of The Westin Tokyo: This year, as the Westin Garden, designed by Kazuyuki Ishihara, celebrates its 30th anniversary, a beautiful garden filled with hydrangeas has been born, centered around a precious kamakura gift from Hasedera Temple. I am deeply grateful and very happy to be able to celebrate 30 years of progress with so many people through this special garden, surrounded by the beauty of Japan’s four seasons. The garden symbolizes the hotel’s commitment to valuing its connection to nature and preserving it for future generations. We hope to be able to provide even more peace of mind to visitors from Japan and abroad through the cool and mysterious blue of Kamakura and the colorful and delicate beauty of the hydrangeas.
Comment from Kazuyuki Ishihara:
From the end of May to June is hydrangea season in Tokyo. During this season when hydrangeas are at their most beautiful, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the opening of The Westin Tokyo, we received a hydrangea “Kamakura” as a gift from Hasedera Temple in Kamakura, known for its beautiful hydrangeas, and designed the garden around this “Kamakura”. I did.
A wonderful space surrounded by hydrangeas has been created in the middle of Tokyo. We hope that we can create lasting memories during your stay at a hotel, at an event, or while taking a walk.
Comment from Motomi Takeishi, head of Hasedera Temple:
We were looking forward to adding a new colorful area to the Westin Garden, which has been soothing and moving people for over 10 years, but we are also honored to be able to unveil the hydrangeas that we have carefully cultivated at the Westin Garden. think. The hydrangea that I presented this time is a hydrangea that Hasedera first named “Kamakura,” which he has a strong fondness for. We hope that many people will enjoy the deep blue flowers that are reminiscent of the ocean of Yuigahama that can be seen from the viewing platform of Hasedera Temple.
