ST Telemedia Global Data Centers’ data center “STT Tokyo 1” in Inzai City, Chiba Prefecture receives “TIA-942-C” certification
ST Telemedia Global Data Centers (Headquarters: Singapore, hereinafter referred to as STT GDC), a data center provider that continues to grow rapidly around the world, is located in STT Tokyo 1 (Chiba
Prefecture), STT GDC’s first data center in Japan. (Inzai City) announced that it has obtained the latest version of TIA-942, “TIA-942-C” certification, which is recognized worldwide as a data center infrastructure standard.
Daniel Pointon, Group CTO, ST Telemedia Global Data Centers, said: “For data center operators like STT GDC, we see the recent AI boom as a huge opportunity to complement the booming public cloud data center market. Reliability and sustainable energy efficiency Reinvent the infrastructure that is the foundation of your digital future by continuously improving the infrastructure requirements of both traditional cloud and high-performance accelerated computing workloads. We are committed to deploying and operating consistently high-quality infrastructure globally, and we have a unique opportunity to define We are pleased to be able to offer facilities that meet international standards in the Japanese market. Obtaining this certification is a result of our efforts to maintain the highest level of data center reliability over the course of more than 10 years. This proves the quality of our unique design and operational standards.” STT Tokyo 1 has received design level “Rated-3” certification based on the latest TIA-942-C standard. The standard was updated to “Revision C” in early May 2024, and this data center is the first facility in the world to comply with this latest standard. The new TIA-942-C certification focuses on modernizing the standard with a greater focus on sustainability and climate change, updating requirements for cabling infrastructure, and rack power density related to technologies such as AI. Key enhancements include new requirements for increased data center outages, updated guidelines to reduce the likelihood of data center outages due to human factors, and a focus on safety requirements.
STT Tokyo 1 was also designed with the Japan Data Center Association (JDCC) guidelines in mind, which are important to many customers in Japan.
Data centers are the physical infrastructure of the digital world, ensuring the security, functionality, and reliability of the digital services people use every day. Growing interest in and adoption of AI has significantly increased computational requirements, coupled with the sheer volume of data required for applications such as model learning, which is causing data center operators to rethink data center designs and We are having to rethink our approach to delivering massive amounts of computing, storage, and networking power. STT Tokyo 1, scheduled to begin operations in the first half of 2024, is the first building of a data center campus located in Goodman Business Park in Inzai City, Chiba Prefecture. In total, the campus will support up to 70 MW of IT capacity, with STT Tokyo 1 planned to provide up to 32 MW when fully operational.
