HIOKI Delivered water electrolysis impedance measurement system “ALDAS-E” to JAXA

HIOKI
Delivered water electrolysis impedance measurement system “ALDAS-E” to JAXA. ……
HIOKI (Hioki Electric Co., Ltd.: Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture, President and CEO: Takahiro Okazawa) will launch the “ALDAS-E” system for measuring the impedance of water electrolyzers and MEAs in February 2024 as part of the National Research and Development Program. The system was delivered to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
■Background
In recent years, technological development for hydrogen utilization has been attracting attention in connection with decarbonization. One such technology is water electrolysis, which is essential for producing green hydrogen derived from renewable energy. Hydrogen production using water electrolysis allows hydrogen to be produced by passing an electric current through water. Japan has world-class water electrolysis technology, but evaluation technology for large-scale water electrolysis equipment that can be used as social infrastructure is still in the process of being established.
■Delivery overview
In February 2024, our company delivered the “ALDAS-E” system for measuring the impedance of water electrolyzers and MEA* to JAXA. JAXA is conducting research on fuel cells, regenerative fuel cells, oxygen/hydrogen production through water electrolysis, and the Sabatier reaction. requires impedance analysis technology.
The recently delivered “ALDAS-E” is a system that can measure operational data at large currents, which is necessary when combining water electrolysis equipment, water electrolysis cells, or technology using the Sabatier reaction with these.

■Product overview
“ALDAS-E” is a water electrolysis device and cell stack evaluation device that has a wide voltage/current measurement range and high noise resistance. Conventionally, there have been measurement methods using equipment for small cell experiments at the laboratory level, but it has been considered difficult to measure with large currents. Using the industry’s first technology that applies impedance measurement and high-precision current measurement, which are our strengths, it is possible to evaluate the characteristics and monitor the operating state of large water electrolyzers and cells.
